Wine Reviewer Paul Gregutt Picks 2021 Rhapsody Pinot Blanc as “Wine of the Week”

Paul Gregutt, former full-time Oregon wine reviewer for Wine Enthusiast from 1998 to 2021 (who has reviewed our wines—including now sold out 2018 Titan, 2018 Candide, and 2018 Villanelle Pinot Noirs several times over the years), recently started his own review site: PaulG on Wine.

His vision is to make the site a source for wine industry news, topical commentary and unscored, uncompromised reviews. With a focus on wines from Oregon, Walla Walla, and essential producers throughout the Pacific Northwest and California, Gregutt’s goal is to be the first and the best to report on what is most interesting, valuable and inspiring in these wine regions.

As part of that mission, Gregutt selects a “Wine of the Week” to review and highlight on his site. He chose 2021 Rhapsody Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc to feature on May 7. Here’s what he had to say:

Young and sassy, this crisp Pinot Blanc is sourced from two vineyards located at opposite (north and south) ends of the Willamette Valley. I like the mix of apple and pear fruit, the cut of the mid-palate, the hint of minerality and the overall balance. The finish persists long and crystal clear. Owner/winemaker Dave Specter is a retired French horn player who names his wines for favorite compositions (in this instance Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody in Blue’).
