Every year, winemaker David Specter produces a limited edition vintage available only to members of Bells Up’s Fanfare Club. The Soloist is the 2017 selection. With just 276 bottles produced, this reserve pinot noir shines as a featured soloist should. The Soloist is comprised entirely of 25-year-old, Pommard pinot noir from our next door neighbor’s estate, Medici Vineyard (South Block IV), self-rooted on an acre of volcanic Jory soil at 600 feet elevation. The resulting composition is a classic, elegant, Burgundian-style Pinot Noir, full-bodied and rich in minerality with an intense finish. Cellar for at least two years, or decant, prior to enjoying. Like every soloist, this one will just keep getting better with time.
NOSE: Orange pekoe suntea, black cherry, damp earth.
PALATE: Full-bodied, with white pepper, black fruit and bittersweet chocolate mingling to a finish that grows as it lingers.
