Named for Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major “Titan,” the 2021 vintage of our flagship Pinot Noir Titan combines 8-year-old Pommard (22.3%) vines from Bells Up’s estate vineyard (volcanic Jory soil) with Dijon Clones 115 (38.8%) and 777 (38.8%) from MonksGate Vineyard’s Yamhill-Carlton AVA vines—19- and 20-year-old vines respectively. The wine aged 12 months in French oak (27% new). The resulting 2021 Titan displays an elegant, rounded mouthfeel, accompanied by earthy and dark red fruit flavors. Its balanced structure and acidity offer enhanced aging potential over the next seven to 10 years.

2021 Jupiter
Estate Vineyard ∞ Chehalem Mountains AVA Pinot Noir

Bells Up’s estate Pinot Noir, Jupiter is named for both Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” orchestral suite and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, “Jupiter.” The 2021 vintage is composed of of 58.8% heritage clone Pommard and 25.8% Dijon clone 667 (8-year vines) plus 15.4% Dijon clone 113 (6-year vines). Jupiter showcases the key notes of Pinot grown in Jory soil in the Chehalem Mountains AVA.

2021 Candide

Named for Leonard Bernstein’s operetta of the same name (which was based on the 1759 novella by Voltaire), the 2021 Candide was made with our estate Pommard and Wadenswil Heritage clones the first time. These blocks in our Chehalem Mountains AVA vineyard are planted at 550 and 500 feet in elevation respectively. The wine aged for 12 months in French oak. It showcases the richer mouthfeel and spicier characteristics of Wadenswil, enhanced by the minerality and warmth imparted by our volcanic Jory soil.

Named for Igor Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite,” these grapes are sourced exclusively from Summit View Vineyard, one of the highest elevation sites in Milton-Freewater, Oregon – at 1,150 feet. Its deep, well-drained glacial soil produces full-bodied fruit with intense flavors and vibrant acidity. Aged 12 months in French oak, this gentle, lower tannin Syrah is for Pinot lovers.

This brand new estate Reserve Pinot Noir is named in honor of Maestro John Williams, whose beloved cinematic scores — featuring multiple French Horn themes — have moved audiences for seven decades. Maestro is composed to highlight the high-toned characteristics of Dijon clone 943, which is exceedingly rare in the Willamette Valley. The 2021 vintage has 50% 943 blended with 27.8% 667 and 22.2% 113, all grown in volcanic Jory soil. It displays bright red fruit aromas and flavors, with balanced structure and acidity.

In 2021 we once again sourced Cabernet Sauvignon from our long-standing Syrah grower, Summit View Vineyard in Milton-Freewater, OR. This silky, lower tannin Cab for Pinot lovers pays tribute to Antonin Dvořák’s “New World Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95.” Grown at 1,150 feet in elevation in the Walla Walla Valley AVA, the site’s deep, well-drained glacial soil produces full-bodied fruit with intense flavors and vibrant acidity.
