2019 Rhapsody – SOLD OUT
Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc
51 cases produced. $28 | SOLD OUT
Named for George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and sourced from Plum Hill Vineyard in Gaston, this jazzy white wine is aged sur lie in stainless steel tanks for 6 months to produce a fuller-bodied wine. No malolactic fermentation allows crisp acidity, subtle minerality and spicy characteristics to take center stage.
TECHNICAL NOTESREVIEW: This vibrant Pinot Blanc was aged sur lie in stainless steel for six months, giving it a rich texture. The nose offers up sun-ripened stone fruit that leads to minerally notes and a tapestry of peach, summer melon and apricot flavors. Crackling acidity keeps it well balanced. REVIEW: Another less typically seen varietal that made its fame in Alsace, the 2019 ‘Rhapsody’ Pinot Blanc shows lovely nutty and damp earth tones that collide with shades of kumquat and green papaya on this evocative nose. Soft and round once on the attack, the wine yields some juicy acidity that connects with a light dusting of salinity and the Gravenstein apple, kiwi and melon flavors. Enjoy this in its youth while the good freshness remains intact. Drink 2020-2024 – 89 (Source: Dr. Owen Bargreen, Washington Wine Blog)
