2020 Rhapsody

Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc

46 cases produced. $32 | SOLD OUT

Named for George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” this jazzy Pinot Blanc is aged sur lie style in stainless steel tanks for six months to produce a fuller-bodied wine. No malolactic fermentation allows crisp acidity, subtle minerality and spicy characteristics to take center stage, creating the perfect accompaniment to a variety of foods or for enjoyment solo.

TECHNICAL NOTES

NOSE: Pear, candied lemon peel, granny smith apple, honeysuckle, white nectarine.

PALATE: Green apple, pear, Meyer lemon, honeydew melon, minerality, full mouth-feel and texture with long finish.

Owen Bargreen Review: The 2020 ‘Rhapsody’ shows ripe kiwi and pink grapefruit tones with a soft texture. With good acidity, this would match perfectly with some fresh oysters. Drink 2021-2025 – 90

Winery Reflections’ Review: Lime peel, fresh cucumber, tart green apple. White peach, acacia flower, pineapple core. Charmingly tense and fiesty streaks of Anjou pear, white grapefruit, and quince highlight a delightfully lively and linear fruit core that comes across as simultaneously crisp yet still nicely expressive. Notes of elderflower and white carnations gently emerge to impart a delicate floral overlay that is subtly enhanced by pleasant hints of lemon grass and green bean. Mild suggestions of raw almond, salted peanut shell, and root spices provide lightly leesy and phenolic complexity while impressions of loam, gravel, and stoney minerality expose intriguing underlying earthiness. Perfectly fresh and crunchy on the palate while still remaining impressively characterful, textured, and layered; exhibiting terrific balance and drive within a presentation that is somehow classic yet wonderfully unique. Medium in body and bursting with elevated acidity. An exceptionally bright and beautiful white.
