2022 Prelude

Estate Vineyard ∞ Chehalem Mountains AVA Rosé of Pinot Noir

108 cases. $30 SOLD OUT

Named for Franz Liszt’s “Symphonic Poem No. 3: Les Preludes” and sourced from the Bells Up vineyard, this is the newest edition of our fuller-bodied rosé. A harmonious blend of heritage clone Pommard (40%) and Dijon clones 113 (40%) and 667 (20%) soaked on skins for 44 hours, then lightly pressed prior to fermentation. The wine then underwent a malolactic ferment to smooth its acidity, yielding a full-bodied, highly complex and savory Rosé with balanced acid and fruit.

TECHNICAL NOTES

NOSE: Watermelon, hazelnut shell, strawberry blossom.

PALATE: Watermelon, bright cherry, strawberry, nougat, full-bodied and well-balanced acid with a long finish.

James Melendez/James the Wine Guy: Field strawberry as well as a very nice savory center of microgreens, a hint of fennel, as well as a mineral notation and fresh white flowers. A dry wine with a very nice initial characterization of mountain strawberry, very minute hint of spicing, as well as an ascending character of briny, compacted seashells and floral notation. This wine is 93 points out of 100 points.

Nathan and Courtney Marton, Winery Reflections: Perfectly plump and expressive eruptions of farmstand strawberry, succulent peach, red cherry, and candy apple beam with outgoing and juicy delight within an attractively fresh yet full-throttle display. Wafts of blooming rose, cherry blossom, and petunia gleefully lift aromatics via radiant floral perfume that dances above interesting organic tones of pine needle and evergreen forest. Intriguing impressions of gravelly soil and stony minerality round out the display with a pleasant earthy kiss that does not distract from its fruit-packed and flavorful personality. Irresistibly luscious, layered, and unique on the palate with surprising elegance found alongside impressive richness and power; exhibiting a tart and dry yet beautifully ripe presentation that possesses delicious refreshment alongside plenty of concentration and complexity. Full bodied with light tannin backed by lively acidity. This generously leaps from the glass with gobs of bright and juicy red fruits enhanced by perfumed floral tones, clean piney freshness, and delicious minerality. Yum.

Jeff and Melissa Lawson, Drink the Bottles: Another pleasing stunner.  Luckily for us Rosé of Pinot Noir usually hits on all cylinders with us and this one was extremely inviting!  Baking spice, fruit basket and sweet cherries on the nose and palate.  This one is very fruit forward and a wine that loves the company of salty cheeses.  Presents a lighter finish with acidity that is in check. 91/100

Cori Solomon, The Written Palette: The wine blends several clones of Pinot Noir to produce a luscious Rosé. I found a very balanced wine with notes of cherry and strawberry on the palate.
