Author Barbara Doyle Returns to Bells Up Twice During Thanksgiving Open House Hours to Sign Copies of “Springbrook Oregon”

On two separate days during Bells Up Winery’s Herald the Holidays Thanksgiving Open House Events, local author Barbara Doyle will sell and sign copies of her new book, “Springbook Oregon: Local, National, International.”

Springbrook, located slightly Northeast of Downtown Newberg, Oregon, is the rural neighborhood in which Bells Up Winery is located. The book, a collection of Springbrook’s history from 1850-2017, has been hailed by Robin Baker, President of George Fox University as filling a significant void in the local history of the area, and provides citizens with a window into the region’s formation.”

Additionally, local businessman Ken Austin, Co-Founder of A-dec, Inc. and a major developer within the area, notes that the book is “a wonderful collection of some great data from the history of the Springbrook area. There were so many things that I didn’t know about the cannery and the community. Barbara Doyle has written a very thorough history.”

Doyle took early retirement from teaching high school mathematics in New York State to concentrate on local history; her interest was piqued when she and her family relocated to Newberg more than twenty years ago.

“I am drawn to stories of ordinary people and their everyday lives in small communities, and how that local scene fits into a larger regional or national picture,” she says, noting that she looks forward to sharing her work with Bells Up’s guests during the open house.
