2018 Bells Up Pinots Praised for “Elegance and Soft Texture” by Reviewer Owen Bargreen

Our three 2018 Pinot Noirs — Titan, Candide, and Villanelle — have been reviewed by Dr. Owen Bargreen, wine writer and Level 2 Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers (pictured at right with Winemaker Dave).

Here’s what he says:

2018 Bells Up ‘Titan’ Pinot Noir – The 2018 ‘Titan’ Pinot Noir shows nice Bing cherry and peat moss tones alongside ripe guava on the nose. The palate is soft, showing off sour red fruits, citrus rind, damp earthy and stony undertones. Drink 2021-2027 – 90

2018 Bells Up ‘Candide’ Pinot Noir – Sourced from the ‘Nemarniki Vineyard’ on the Chehalem Mountains AVA, this unveils lovely red florals alongside ripe red currants and earthy undertones on the nose. The palate is elegant and nicely textured with good freshness. Layers of Yakima cherry and pomegranate seed combine with peat moss and damp earthy tones on the palate. This is nicely made, elegant Pinot Noir. Drink 2021-2029 – 90

2018 Bells Up ‘Villanelle’ Pinot Noir – The ‘Villanelle’ Pinot Noir is sourced from the ‘Tonnelier Vineyard’ in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Flinty and smoky tones collide with a good core of red fruits and red rose petals on the nose. The palate is elegant and shows off its soft texture alongside ripe red fruits and stony undertones. Drink 2021-2029 – 91
