The esteemed palates at Great Northwest Wine — a collection of regional wine reviewers led by wine writer Eric Degerman — posted their review of our latest wine release, 2020 Titan Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, rating it “Outstanding!”
Degerman has been writing about Pacific Northwest wines (including Willamette Valley wineries and other producers in Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Idaho) for more than 35 years. In 2022 he began publishing a print magazine under the Great Northwest Wine masthead as well. He’s reviewed many of our wines over the years, most recently the 2020 Jupiter Estate Pinot Noir (also rated “Outstanding!).
Here’s the review of the current release of our flagship Titan Pinot Noir:
The Specter family blends Pommard clone Pinot Noir from their estate above Newberg, Ore., with Dijon clone 115 and 777 from Plum Hill Vineyard — 20 miles to the northwest near Forest Grove — for a deliciously delicate interpretation of the Willamette Valley’s prized variety.
Its pale ruby color carries along aromas of watermelon, strawberry taffy, cinnamon dust and a faint whiff of caramel — a sign of its 12 months in French oak (32% new.) The supple structure makes this a Pinot Noir of finesse, featuring flavors of creamy strawberry-rhubarb compote, golden raspberry, Ruby Red grapefruit and a finish akin to black cherry juice.
