A couple of Saturdays ago, while #gogocmo Sara was pouring Bells Up wines at Yamhills Gallery, #winemaker Dave had a call from a couple who asked if they could drop in and taste (a spontaneous appointment). Dave welcomed Rodney and Dorinda up to the tasting room, where they noted that they were taking a long weekend mini-vacation and were from Eugene.
Rodney, a musician, professor and band director at the University of Oregon, had noticed the French Horn on our sign during past trips to Newberg’s wine country, and wanted to stop in to learn more.
As the three of them chatted, Dave shared that he had grown up in Florida, north of Orlando. Rodney asked which high school Dave had attended (Lake Mary), and the two of them pieced together that Rodney had done some student teaching at the school when Dave had been a freshman—back in 1988—and had conducted Dave during his band experience that year.
