International Wine Report, Washington Wine Blog Award High Scores to Bells Up’s 2015s

We were delighted to discover last week that the 2015 Titan Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and the 2015 Firebird Summit View Vineyard Walla Walla Valley AVA Syrah were reviewed by Dr. Owen Bargreen, Level 2 Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers and executive editor of Washington Wine Blog and International Wine Report (2015 Titan here and 2015 Firebird here).

Here’s what he had to say about each:

2015 Bells Up ‘Titan’ Pinot Noir- Coming from a hot vintage you are immediately drawn to the translucence of this wine. Needing around an hour in the decanter to settle, once aroused this Pinot Noir begins with a bright bouquet of Mandarin Orange rind, red currant and candied red cherry. You have to admire the silky texture to this distinctly feminine style Pinot Noir wine. Elegant and precise, there are ripe strawberry, guava puree and red cherry compote flavors that sit alongside a lively tension. This is an awesome effort by the talented hands of Dave Specter. Drink 2017-2027- 91

2015 Bells Up ‘Firebird’ Syrah- Sourced from the Summit View Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley, this Syrah is planted at 1,150 feet on Ellisford Silt Loam soil. Shut down right out of the gate, the Syrah needs more than an hour decant to develop. After some time the wine opens with aromatics reminiscent of black cherry, black tea and suggestions of mint. While this doesn’t have heft, the texture here is really nice as this is made in an elegant style. Red cherry, Hoisin sauce and wild blackberry with black tea flavors entice. This is another excellent release by Bells Up. Drink 2017-2025- 90

We’re thrilled to maintain our 91-point score streak on Titan Pinot Noir with these reviews (see previous reviews here). Additionally, Bells Up winemaker Dave Specter was featured in an interview on Washington Wine Blog earlier this year.

The 2015 Titan was just released a few weeks ago so there is a decent amount of inventory still in stock; the 2015 Firebird is selling very fast, and we’re down to just 10 cases remaining. As we are now accepting orders for our Fall 2017 shipping window, now is a great time to email info@bellsupwinery.com or call 503.537.1328 today to reserve your bottles of these wines.
